air horns for SUs (and air cleaners as well?) 140-160 1970

Are air horns (velocity stacks?) important for the performance

of the carbs? Mine make a pronounced sucking sound at certian

throttle positions; it's pretty cool but if it is making that much

noise I can't imagine it's good for air flow.

Are there cheap air horns for the SUs? Are there replacement

one piece air filter housings? The people at grassroots whatever

who are rebuilding a 122 had one but didn't mention a source. Or

would the air cleaner box from a later model with the dual stromburgs

work? That might be good for routing cool outside air into the

intake instead of the already heated underhood air that the round

SU elements suck in.

thanks,

chris
