Removing speedo sensor 900 1991

Hi guys,

This weekend I am going to remove the speedo sensor on the rear axle to do some wire soldering. The cause of my speedo intermitent failure is the wiring. Some goons must have previously cut the wires there and then attached again and cover over it with tapes. I trace the problem to down there after I had speedo failure and wriggling the wires with tapes there got the speedo working again.

So before I do anything I need some help here. If I remove the speedo sensor from the axle, will I be causing the gear oil to drain out? I don't keep extra gear oil with me and I don't want to find out the hard way.

Thanks in advance.
