Loose Belts - Car runs studders?? 700 89ti

Hey guys,

My car(1989 760ti b230ft(k) studders when i accelerate hard but its not a turbo type of studder which will smokes. If i mash the gas hard from a stand still it studders until i let off and accelerate more gradually, however once up to speed the studder occurs rarely unless i give it a lot of gas. I looked my hoses over to be sure but they seem ok. Then i looked at my belts, i took the belts between my fingers and i was able to squezze them towards each othe r about 2 inches per side. Is this normal, could this be causing the studder, could this causemy car to run rough? Is there an easy way to check if my timing is ok?

Thanks guys,
