Okay, I have a 1988 Volvo 740 Ti Wagon. Only I have a major problem. In the words of my mechanic "I hate to tell you this, but it pretty much starts when it wants to." Well, when I start the engine cold, it starts fine. However, once the engine warms up, it usually won't start. Take this, for example: I drive my car to work, barely a mile away, where it sits for about hours. I drive it to a delivery about 4 miles away, park it for 10 minutes, and get back in the car. What happens is when it doesn't start, the engine floods. It floods VERY fast. However, sometimes, as in the case of my example, it will flood but still start after I hold the key for a while. So, the car starts after some encouragement, and I drive it back to work. 4 hours later I'm waiting to be picked up with the car stalled out in the lot. When I take it to get looked at, I drive the car for 8 miles to the garage, where I turn it off. As to prove my point, I try to start the car again, and it starts fine. I try again, it starts fine. In fact, I left the car for 2 days, and it only flooded once...when I was on my way over to pick it up. But when it floods, 2 things are certain: It's always after I've driven it and let it sit, it floods fast, and is afterwards unstartable to the next day, where it starts up and then starts shaking badly until I've driven it at 30 for a few blocks. It tends to break down at very inopportune moments: think trip out to the mall and then when I get ready to go home it doesn't start. Any help would be EXTREMELY appreciated. Thanks a lot.
