Wayne -- this isn't center city, but it's doable, to some extent: Bill Dougherty in West Chester has a splendid reputation. They aren't cheap (who is, anymore...) but they're good. There's a bus which runs from West Chester to 69th St., where you can hop the Market-Frankford el. I take the trolley from Norristown, where I live, to 69th St. and then take the bus out to West Chester.
