Lumbar support, in-the-car job? 200 89

I know for my right arm I can buy new foam for the backrest. I was told by a guy that many times it's just the lumbar support wires that break and cause the foam to push through the seat frame.

Can anyone varify that as true?

Can I just cut the clips and unscrew the lumbar knob and pull the fabric up the seat as if I'm taking off a tee shirt? Does that lumbar knob come off but just turning it CCW?
