Re: Turbo woes and then some ALL 1988

I've got a gas gauge if you need one (actually, i have 2 spares)

If the turbo was gone, the car would be seriously down on power (it wouldn't get out of its own way), and/or it would be blowing whiteish blueish smoke(more blueish than anything). Black smoke out the back is the car running excessivly rich, and its been my experience on these that that means there's a boost/vaccum leak in the system. Common places are the two connector hoses on the intercooler, and the bend that goes into the throttle body. Most of the time, its the hose on the intercooler on the driver's side, and it blows out the bottom. fyi, the intercooler is right in front of the radiator, and if thats the broken part, arm yourself with a standard screw driver and you'll be rid of that problem in 10 minutes. Have you tried hitting the dash to see if the gas gauge moves? Mine sticks on the "e" position, and my temp gauge sticks on cold.

Power sunroof is a common problem, if you're really atached to it, you can probably find a replacement motor used for cheap, its held in with a couple of screws. Power windows are a pain, and new window regulators ain't cheap, you can call voluparts in atlanta, and see what they'll charge for those. They're usually pretty fair. As for the passenger wheel... it *should* be a 5 lug pattern, and I'd be willing to bet someone didn't torque the lug nuts down when the tires were rotated/replaced, and they're trying to cover their arse. Personally, I don't let people i don't know put wheels on my car for two reasons: they either over torque the wheels, which can (and has) lead to warped brake rotors (both my cars have warped rotors now), or they dont torque em down enough. Make sure they use a torque wrench when they do it-stand over them if you have to.

Can't really help you with the a/c, i have spare parts for that too, but you'll need to find someone who will honeslty tell you whats wrong with it.

Cruise control being dead is more than likely just a vaccum line going from the pump(on the driver's side, behind the battery under the abs) to the back of the billows(i think thats what its called..) or the billows is worn out. also a cheap fix.. vaccum lines are $.10 a foot, and a replacement part should be next to nothing as well.

Sounds like your car is a bit rough around the edges, but nothing serious. Give the folks at voluparts a call, e-mail me, it'll get straightened out. Besides, youre almost done with the payments, life with a payment free car is good ;)

Good luck!
