Seatbelt warning light flashes inapropriately 200 82

My 1982 244DL's seatbelt warning light (the one on the dash panel along with the hazard flashers, etc.) comes on occasionally after the car has been running for awhile.

My first impulse would be to just pull the bulb, but the Bentley manual (section 242-2, figure 3) shows the "seat belt reminder unit" in series with the "fuel pump relay" coming out of the ECU. Since I'm currently having also problems with noisy fuel pumps, I wonder if a bad connection is causing problems with both.

Anyone have experience along these lines?

Greg
