Sunroof has gone WACKO !! 700 1987

As everything tends to break down in pairs on this car, my sunroof has gone schizo as well. It wouldn't close yesterday, and just made a clicking sound. I finally was able to nurse it closed, but the lid now sits oddly in the frame. Do these motors hold up pretty well, or does the linkage need lubed, or what ?? I will search the FAQ to see if there is anything on troubleshooting sunroofs, but if any of you have run into this problem before, I sure would like some advise. Thanks!
