gas swap 200 83

I just finished converting an 83 diesel to gas job. My problem is I'm not getting any ignition. I'm getting power to the distributor, but the coil is not being triggered. Is there any way to test this system. The control unit works, I just can't get the coil to discharge. Are there any tricks, is there some way to bypass the controll unit, or just get rid of all the computor junk and put in a simple chevy ignition. This swap is turning into a nightmare...fast.
