745 Ti Question, To Buy or Not to Buy???? 200 79

HI

out of the blue a mechanid dropped of a 1988 745 Ti. He said "I just picked it up, don't have room for it, I know you likeVolvos. Do you want to keep it here and think about buying it" ($300.oo) It needs a timing belt, starts fine but has trouble starting when hot.

I've never driven a 740 before. the engine looks quite similar in ways to the 240. Is the 740 much more dificult to work on? Is this considered a superior car mechanically? The fit and finish are great, the Body has no rust and seems perfectly straight. The interior is awsome compared to my 245. So...What do you think, Is a 740 a world apartand more dificult than a 240 or is it a matter of adapting to subtle changes? Is one more reliable than the other?

Thanks

Richard
