M47 leaks when on side??

Hello, what do you think of this: If i tip the five speed on its side, the gearbox oil starts to immediately drip out of a bolt on the back of the extension housing (where the overdrive is on the M46) It doesn't leak from the gasket at the mating surface, but comes out of the bore the bolt is in. I do not think this is healthy because, although the fluid level is below that, the inspection cover is above this point and it has a gasket as well. i have had the inspection cover come loose will driving and it does spit oil everywhere....

also, the input shaft on the front of the trans is "loose". I can wiggle it back and forth perpendicular to the axis just enough to be able to feel it and see it move. is this normal play? i don't remember this on M41s or M46s...

thanks for your advice/experience!!
