What year 700 is the best starting point for mods? ALL

Hi,

I'm thinking about buying a 700 series turbo car soon and would like feedback from the board on what years would be best as a starting point for engine and suspension modifications. My goal is to end up with a good handling and accelerating car that can be driven on a daily basis. In particular, I'd like advice on which year cars had the most durable engines, and the most easily adaptable EFI to engine modifications, such as increased boost and fuel. I've heard that the late B23OFT engines (89 on?) had the beefiest bottom end, but can the EFI of those cars be modified to increase the boost and fuel? Would I be better off going with an earlier car and replacing the mechanical FI with a programmable one (e.g., SDS)? Also, any differences regarding which cars are more easily modified for handling improvements? Thanks.
