If your voltage is under 12 volts you are NOT charging at all,

and your battery is indeed dying. It holds a lot and you can run

for days (but not nights, with lights on) on the battery only.

You have either an alternator or regulator problem, and you need

to get it fixed before your battery gets so low that the starter

will not crank the engine. Don't replace the battery until the

charging system is fixed. The battery is what is now carrying you!
