Head Lights go out!!!! 200 1991

When I am driving at night and have the Hi beam's on they will periodicaly go completely out and there is no light on the road ahead of me. It is kinda scary.... It only happens with the Hi-beams's. I have a high powered stero...Could that have anything to do with the problem. How do i fix the problem.
