Re: OIl and Filter Change, Which is better? 83, 87, 91

If you drive alot of highway miles a reasonable interval would be oil and filter every 5,000 miles. I used to do that for about 170,000 miles and I've switched to changing oil and filter every 2,500 miles.

I bought a case of 10 Mann Filters for $39.50 and I buy Brand name regular oil on sale (Today I bought a case of Citgo 10w30 for 74 cents a quart.)

The whole oil change works out to be less than $7.00 bucks a pop.

Every 2,500 miles is a little often (for me about every 6 weeks) but my oil and engine are so clean I sometimes have a hard time reading the dipstick. I'm at 220,000 miles on my 86 240 and still running smooth.

PS: Don't forget to change the flame trap and clean out the associated plumbing on a regular basis also.

Regards,

Jack W.
