Ira,

I found I had to take the assembly off and put it in the big vise on the little bench that I have. You can then use a hammer and a drift or the big pipe wrench if you can hold it snuggly. Also, probably time to get the ball joints, your right there and if you have 100k miles on 'em, you may as well bite the bullet. Good luck.
