Re: F.I. internal filter 140-160 1973

It's funny this is a topic because I've been meaning to write about for a couple weeks. I replace the fuel pump about a year ago with an inferior universal one. The car never really seemed the same. So I replaced the external fuel filter which was very clogged and poured red gas. Not much of a difference. Then two weeks ago I had some spare time and tried this in-tank filter. Used the 3/8 drive to loosen ( after I had driven the tank as empty as I could) and took out the filter. The plug itself was covered in this muddy rusty silt as was the filter I cleaned the both of them up and returned them to the car. And ever since things have been better, plus the fuel pump is much quiter! I am wondering about the internal filter, if it is available or not because as a matter of preventive maintenance every FI Volvo in America should have their's replaced.
