Fault code translation - 89' 240 200 89

Hi, the "Check Engine" light came on (240 DL) and I figured out how to read the on-board fault codes. The code I got was 2-1-2, signal missing/faulty from oxygen sensor. I have noticed no drivability problems since the light came on last week. From everyones experience, what would be the probable cause of this, and should I bring it to my mechanic to fix the problem? Thanks in advance.
