Idle speed increase after throttle body cleaning: HELP! 200 1984

Hi,

What's the most common culprit for a 1000 rpm boost in idle speed after throttle body cleaning?

I had a "surging idle", which magically disappeared today when I found the AMM disconnected. Plugging the AMM back in fixed the surging idle, but now

the idle speed is 1800.

My vacuum hoses are all in place and are of newer quality.

Thanks,

Larry
