Need help with a CRAPPY Dihatsu Charade idle control!!! 700 1988

Hey all,

I myself own a volvo, however, my girlfriend is yet to experience a european, and as such, drives the exact opposite to a volvo, a dihatsu charade....ew.....

She's having trouble with the idle (it idles at about 780rpm, should be 850ish), i, while not a proper shade tree mechanic, cannot for the LIFE OF ME work out what the hell dihatsu were thinking when they built the idle speed control system. I cannot adjust it in anyway, except to make the car idle at 2500........thats all i can achieve (by unplugging a hose!!). It is a 97 model, 1.3 litre, 4 cyl version, if anyone has ANY IDEA AT ALL, please put me out of my misery and help!!! Thanks alot all,
