Hard shift 700 90

I just got my 740 ('90) back from the shop, and while there, I got a pretty thorough tune-up. When I got it back they were bragging about how I was going to love how much more power they gave me. Well, I didn't notice that night because I live right near the shop, but when I drove to work the next morning I was shocked that the shifting was so screwed up. It races before shifting into second and then needs to reach 4000 rpm before slamming into the next gear. I called the mechanic and he told me that the computer has to relearn something and that it will clear up. Does this guy know what he's talking about?
