B20 rebuild - oilpump/dist gear orientation 120-130 1967

OK, I only want to do this once.

On reinstalling the oil pump/dist drive gear, the shop manual says install with #1 at TDC, slot at approx 35 degree angle etc. At the end of this section, it states that:

"When the timing gear drive marks are opposite each other, the piston for the No. 4 cylinder as at the top dead centre position, the firing position"

So does that mean that to make sure that my dist. is not 180 degrees off, the marks on timing gears should not be matched when installing the oil pump/dist shaft? Or is TDC with the marks matched up the correct reference for the installation of the drive gear?

thanks
