Hard Starting Problem 200 1987

A week ago I wrote in regarding a difficult time starting my '87 244. Several suggestions were made. After I did everything that I could do, I took it to a Volvo specialist. They diagnosed it as a faulty Fuel Pump Pressure Regulator. They changed it for $245.00.

Well, nothing changed, it was still hard to start. I just receive a call from the shop. They are taking apart the gas tank because they say that there is a hose in there that is known to split, crack or otherwise fail. They have diagnosed everything else in the system and all checks out OK.

The mechanic said that this problem will occur when the tank is well below 1/2 full. Since I bought it a week or so ago, there has never been more than 1/4 tank of fuel. That could be the problem.

Just thought someone out there might be able to use this piece of info.
