DIY'er -

If the wrecked car has a four-cylinder engine, it is the B230F.

The difference between the oil pan on the two cars may be the configuration of the bottom of the pan as regards clearing the front cross member. The bolt pattern should be the same.

One way to check is to cajole your friendly Volvo dealer parts guy into looking up the part numbers for the two car's sumps. Same p/n? bingo.

Another idea is to look at sumps at a Volvo shop or ask a mech about it.

They may be the same - or they may cross-fit. The pre-Ford Volvo had a history of not changing what they didn't need to.
