fuel and temp gauge 200 1980

After driving 700s and 900s for the last 10yrs, I bought a low milage 1980 244GL for commuting. The fuelgauge shows full all the time and the temp gauge shows towards the hot side-not in the red-but close to it to make me concerned. I have been driving it for two weeks since I purchased and this just started occuring the last few days. I changed the thermostat, hoses, and fan clutch as the clutch had little resistance when I turned it by hand and I could actually stop it from turning when while cranking with coild wire pulled. After doing these things and noticing that the fuel gauge wasnt working-I beleive it to be an electrical problem. I checked the wires running from alt. as far as I could , and checked other viisble wires and connections. Just curious if someone couldpoint me in the right direction to save time. All other aspects of the electrical system seem to work properly. thanks for any info
