Psychedelic gagues anyone? ALL 1984

I do a lot of night driving, and though my 240’s cockpit has a very comfortable and quaint feeling, I’d like to liven things up a bit. I’ve read up on doing the white-face gauge modifications, but I also have another idea that I think might give me exactly the look I’m going for.

How about using phosphorescent paint or paper, or perhaps paint on the BACK of a piece of photocopied overhead projector plastic, to make the gauges. And then replace the small green factory bulb with a "black light". No, I’m not going for the psychedelic look, I’m just trying to get something different and interesting, and more like the look on the modern cars. The black light wouldn’t light up everything else on the dash since it’s relatively faint, but the gauges would jump right out. I could even hand paint the gauge pointers and then they would light up too.

I have a turbo with the full gauge pod. Is it possible to open those guys up and replace their faces as well?

Thanks in advance!
