piers: having watched, but not done this myself, here is what I saw: to remove and install the rack, you will be turning the front wheels from side to side, so you'll want the car up on a lift (preferable), or on jack-stands under the lift-points. It would be helpful to have someone in the car to hold the wheel centered before you start tying anything down. Also, measure/mark the position of the nuts on your tie rods, to make repositioning them easier. Check components for wear, replace bushings, bearings, bolts, boots as needed: NOW is the time. Get it aligned afterwards, yes? Good Luck, let us know about successes (or snags, too). --PD.
