Do completely remove the bolt from the steering column U Joint and gently pry the clamp apart slightly. A little PB'laster helps the splined rack shaft slide out. On the first 240 rack I replaced I tried to simply loosen the bolt on the UJ and had no luck getting it to release until the bolt was removed. Don't over torque the hydra lines when reinstalling or the mounting u clamps ... I'd get new crush washers for the fluid line connections. Hope this is helpful.
