wonky fuel and temp gauge 200 89

O.K. I Fosterized my relays+fixed the overdrive indicator light-put it all back together, and the fuel gauge tanked...thinking I forgot something, pulled it all out, cleaned contacts, checked plugs and wires, reassembled, and now the temp gauge dropped like a rock also. How do I check the IC voltage regultor and is it the tiny black thingie that plugs into the plug between the gauges? Is it a radio shack type of part?I tried to search the archives, but obviously didn't look in the right place.

Thanks
