Bad gas mileage and stil lruns lean... 700 1988

Ok, well, my 88 745T with 94 B230FT gets really bad gas mileage, like 12mpg last time i checked it out. I installed a new 02 and a new fuel filter but it didn't seem to help. I am going to check the timing as someone who i trust suggested. I am wondering how to check the fuel pressure since the fittings on the fuel line are impossible to find and aren't worth dealer prices! When i removed the vac line off the fpr i didn't not smell gas. Any help is appreciated-I really need to solve this problem. Boost is only @ 5psi. thanks a bunch,
