Door Sill Plastic - How to remove? 200 1993

As part of my rust prevention work this weekend, I'd like to pull out the carpeting on my '93 240 wagon just to make sure my floors are OK. Problem is, the carpet is tucked rather tightly under the plastic door sill pieces. If I pull the carpet out, I doubt I'll ever be able to get it tucked back under. How do these sill pieces come off? I pried carefully in all the ways i thought might work, but they wouldn't budge.. and I sure don't want to break them! Thanks for your input!
