I don't know how wider gaps work in a turbo, but in an NA car the result is usually a hotter spark. The drawback is the wider gap requires more voltage to jump the gap. This stresses the coil and plug wire system so these need to be in good condition. There is obviously an upper limit to the plug gap but I don't know what it is. Maybe someone on the board has this information.
