Defroster Hoses 120-130 1965

Having just spent an hour standing on my head under the dash of my 122 trying to install a new defroster duct ... and managing to destroy the new one I acquired from Canadian Tire .... How the @!#$%&^*()_(*&^$%E# do you manage to install one of these around the !@#$&^*( steering column brace that some Swedish midget contortionist mechanic installed in the way of the duct? Try as might, there is no way I can release the upper bolt holding the brace on the top end. I disconnected the bottom and was able to slide the column off to one side a bit .... I had the flare nozzle out and back in .. but there is absolutely no way to work the new ducting onto the neck of that defroster nozzle around the flaming column brace ... AAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Other than a stick of dynamite .... or a cutting torch .... anyone got any suggestions ???

What? FRUSTRATED ? MOI ??????
