Brake job do-it-yourselfer with first timer anxiety? 700 1992

My 740 Turbo wagon needs front brakes and rotors. I have done this job before on my Subaru, which doesn't have ABS, as my Volvo does. Is there any difference in the procedure? Should I punt and have a mechanic do the job, as I don't want to risk the lives of my wife and kids? Also, apparently there are two different manufacturers of brakes in this model year. How do I determine which is mine? Finally, suggestions about part sources? Thanks again for the always good info!
