2 Wires Leading to each injector 1green 1 grey 300 1987

Hello

Our 87 has a wiring loom which is disintegrating. I noticed that the injector wiring is unusual in the way there seems to be single green wire which someway splits into 4 wires which lead to each injector. The same applies to the grey wire. 1 splits to 4 which lead to the injectors.

The insulation is gone around 4 ground wires which travel in the same area of the injectors wiring.

Could some explain how the electrical pulse can know what injector to go to since the electrical pulse is coming from one single wire before it splits into 4 individual wires. Also what does the 2 wire colors do.

With the poor condition of the insulation of all the grounds in this area would a short be a fire hazard. Would this injector wiring tolerate being disconnected and pulled from under the intake to be retaped.

Thanks again

Thanks for the help.
