You can check your calibration, but I don't think you will be able to do anything but replace the gauge and sensor if yours is off.

There are actually three tiny numeric calibration marks on the temp gauge (on the painted display side, extreme upper top lip)- you may not be able to view these with gauge in place without removing the steering wheel and looking UP at gauge with a flashlight. Get a thermometer that will register 70-90 deg. Centigrade and display one degree gradiations. Boil up a kettle of water and take kettle and a coffee mug down to the car. If you put sensor and thermometer in hot water at the same time you can check the gauge reading and compare readings.

It may just be easier to "plug and play" another used sensor&gauge.
