DIY Turbo repair 700 1989

I was fiddling around (as I always do when I'm bored) and decided to mess with the intercooler. I took it out, and about 1 cup of oil drained out when I removed the drain plug. I'm wondering if there's any seals I can replace / repair in lieu of buying a new turbo or center cartridge? (Mitsu TD05).

I was thumbing through my buddy's haynes manual for his 1987 744. In the manual it says that "there's no DIY reapir of the turbo possible..." I'm wondering if that's true. I've read of some people installing new gaskets or seals etc.

Also, still looking for a donor wrecked turbo for my Mechanical Engineering Tech. project if anyone has one laying around. Age / application doesn't matter.
