reassembling wiper linkages...@#$%&! 200 1982

Last week, during a light rain, there was a "clunk!"

behind the dashboard of my 1982 245GL wagon and

the wipers stopped dead.

Pulling out the glovebox revealed that the linkage/cam

assembly had dropped off the passenger side wiper.

The cables had come untwined from the cam wheels and

while there doesn't seem to be anything broken, I've

found it insanely difficult to reassemble the thing

in place, given the tightness of the cables, and the

awkward work area inside the dashboard.

If anyone has had any experience re-assembling the

wiper linkages, or even knows if it can be done without

pulling apart the entire dash, I would appreciate

any information, tips, or meditative phrases to calm

me down during attempt #712.

Thanks,

Dave Benjamin
