is it easy to switch from 82 to 78 cis injection? 200 82

i have a 78 injection system that has an excellent wire harness compared to my brittle 82. i was wondering if i could swap out the computer and fuel injection compenents from the 78 to the 82. do the wires match up the same? i know the constant idle motor is completely different on the 82 system with its own control unit. can i just get rid of that part and use the existing wires for the other parts that run from the harness inside the car? i know the control unit has only about 7 wires that run off it on both systems, would these be compatible on both systems? has anyone ever tried this before or am i looking at a huge electrical mess just to avoid fixing some bad wiring on the existing system and replace a warm up reg, and the impossible to find stripped idle screw ( i think) in front of the fuel distributor? i am hoping i could just throw in the whole 78 system with some minor wiring changes like converting the 78 ends to the bullet style connectors.

thanks will
