Steering Rack 200 90

Hello Bricksters,

I'd like to get some feedback from other 240 owners on steering rack replacement.

My car has 187k, my mechanic told me I need a new rack. Can it wear to the point that it becomes dangerous? What are some of the telltale signs when driving? I just put in new ball joints, water pump and battery so I'd like to hold off for a little while. Thanks for any and all input! This board is a great forum and I really enjoy reading about other people's experiences with their "bricks"!!!
