Running Rich (?) 140-160 1972

I drove my 1972 164E about 150 miles with no problem. It was the first time I have had it on the rode for a fair distance. It sat for about two hours before starting on the return trip home. About 75 miles from home, I started having problems. Intermittent lose of power; gassy smell; until finally I had to stop. I waited for about 30 minutes and drove to a motel for the night.

As I drove it home yesterday, I got about 60 miles into the trip and the same thing happened. Can someone give me some clues to follow? This problem as you can see doesn't appear until the car has gone several miles and then it comes on quickly.

Thanks

Kent
