Re: No start. Fuel system. Input please. 700 87

Hello

I just completed a 7000 mile trip in 20 days in my 740 Turbo, It failed to start twice, we discovered that the fuel pressure regulator was faulty. At first we thought the main or in tank pump had failed, we pulled the fuel return line off the back of the regulator and nothing was coming out when we tried to start the car. Then with the line removed the car started and continued to run and no fuel came out! We then realized why we had gotten poor gas mileage and seen a few puffs of black smoke. Appearently the regulator failed not allowing fuel to return to the tank, when the car was parked overnight a vacumn created a vapor lock in the fuel rail, then the car would not start the next morning. Pull the line off the regulator, be careful there may be fuel under pressure!!, attach a hose and run it into a container to catch the gas and crank the engine over.
