Re: Straight headers, no mufflers! '71 142S 140-160 1971

Al's comments are funny. Loud and pratical are not always the same. My 122 has 2 resonators. One is 20" and in front of the axle. Then the hump and a 12" one after the hump. Not very loud, actually, and pretty close to a straight pipe. When I drove it from my garage to the exhaust place, I had just the headers, so the exhaust was about 2 feet long from manifold to exit. This was deafening, and I imagine having nothing but a longer pipe would not quite things down much.
