Assuming it's manual, it should work. Sunroofs aren't hard to fix though. what's happening? is it just clicking and not shutting? try removing the handle and tightening the 2 screws that hold the winder in place. I had to replace mine because they were worn and wouldn't hold.

try diss-assembling it first, it's a pretty simple mechanism once you get a look at it, and all hand crank mechanisms should be the same. My old jetta and GTI had the same sunroof as a matter of fact.
