Fuel Pump - Electrical 200 85

Problem: No start at first intermittent, now not at all.

Symptoms: Main fuel pump not coming on when the key is in the accessory position. Checked all the obvious stuff: 25amp fuse, fuse box connections and the fuel pump relay. The relay switches on in the accessory position and when turning the engine over.

Attempted fixes: I've recently resoldered the relay, so that is probably not the problem. I ran a wire directly from the battery to the fuel pump connection and the pump came to life. I then tried to start the car while I had these connected, but no dice (I'm not sure if the pump can work connected in this manner).

Question: What wires do I jump on the fuel pump relay to double check if it is working properly? Does the fact that the fuel pump worked when I connected it to the battery eliminate the fuel pump itself as the problem? Should have the car still started when the fuel pump was connected to the battery?

It certainly sounds like a problem with the electrical current to the fuel pump, but I want to be sure. Any advice would be helpful.
