I recently had to take my 240 to a Midas Muffler shop, to oxy off the CAT pressed in studs. They put my new CAT on - no pressed in studs. (I supplied the CAT).
But I noticed that where the CAT pipe goes into the front muffler it is not very tight, at least at the beginning of the slip joint. The larger muffler pipe joint is not tight around the CAT pipe. Sloppy work. It was tight when I took it there. In fact I wondered why they had a pry bar on the muffler - oh well!
I want to repair the repair. Is it better to increase the CAT pipe diameter or to decrease the muffler pipe diameter?
Lisle tools sells a pneumatic pipe expander (pricey though [$100.00] for a one time job.) Don't imagine I would use the tool much though, even if I did get it. What about a tool to reduce the muffler pipe. I don't want to just peen it down. Perhaps I could just tighten a clamp or two over the end. Any ideas?

PS. Btw, Midas also failed to use muffler sealing paste, as recommended by Bentley manual. I requested it but they forgot (?). I also asked them to use the Bentley torque's on the CAT bolts. They said we make em tighter than that. Didn't feel like arguing with them. Guess I'll get a new gasket and then torque it appropriately, and maybe put some sealing paste on that front muffler joint before I try to reduce or increase the pipe diameter at that spot.
