I bought a used XR700 setup on eBay for around $65. Installed it easily on my 544 after downloading some wiring diragrams from their website. At the same time I replaced the rather tired firewall mounted hard-cable wired coil and replaced it with a more powerful Mallory coil. Now it fires up more easily and doesn't slightly cut out at full throttle any more. Plus - my timing light showed that with the points the timing was jumping around a little - the light would fire back and forth a few degrees. Now with the electronic ignition the timing is rock steady. I've driven my car with this installed for around 8 months and ~4000 miles with no problems whatsoever.
