Reid -

The AMM is in the air intake route between the air filter and the intake manifold. There is a connector on it, a long one about the size of the data cable connection on your PC printer.

There is a pre-pump fuel pump inside the fuel tank. If it fails you can still run, but the main pump - the one you can see - will work much harder and become weakened therefore. Have a friend listen in the gas filler tube, cap removed and flap held open, while you turn the key into start postion. She should hear it humming. On a 240 there is a way to jump fusees #4 and #6 to make the pump run w/o starting the car. I don't know what the method is on a 700 series B230F.

There are shop manuals about for your car. I think Bentley has one, and you can check www.volvocars.com/lit for the Volvo service manuals. Get at least the Wiring diagrams book.
