Power Steering sounds... 900 1996

My 96 960 has just recently started making a strange noise at start up. I believe it's the ps pump. It makes a horrible squealing sound at start up when it has been sitting long enough to cool off (mornings, most recently after a day in the parking deck). The time I caught it, I opened the ps resevoir to try and identify the source and it stopped immediately as soon as I opened the cap. Any ideas? Fluid is clean and full. No leaks and the ps operates perfectly. Thanks.
